Al’s Place is now in our classroom!!!  This is a place where students choose to go when they are having strong feelings about something.  It is a quiet place to sit and think until the student is feeling better.  It may also be shared with a friend if students are having a disagreement or argument about something.  Ask your child about Al’s Place.

The students in Room 12 have been very busy lately.

We have begun our new Character Building Curriculum, called Al’s Pals, where the students are learning how to express their feelings in positive ways.

In Science, we are learning all about trees and many of the students brought in leaves from trees around their homes, neighborhoods and from nearby parks.

Social Studies time has been spent discussing rules and the importance of them and the tools we use in school.

In Math, we are busy learning to count and record things in many different ways.

Language Arts has been full of new and exciting letters, sounds, syllables and many new stories.  We have discussed the letters Mm, Ss, Rr, and Tt, segmented words into 2, 3, and 4 syllables, talked about the difference between a word, a letter, and a sentence, and practiced our comprehension skills by listening to and discussing stories.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could send in a small plastic container or pencil box with personal school supplies for your child and a two-pocket folder (for homework and information to go home), within the first few days of school.  The school supply box should be labeled with your child’s name in permanent marker and it will be kept at school

Suggested items for your child’s personal school supply box include:  crayons, glue sticks, children’s scissors, pencils, markers, and colored pencils.

Thank You
